FAQs

Do you accept insurance?
At Mind and Body Medicine our mission is to provide our clients with personalized and comprehensive mental health care without the time constraints imposed by insurance companies. I am not in-network for any insurance panels, including Medicare, and am considered an “out of network provider” for PPO plans. While I do not contract with insurance companies, I do assist my patients by providing the paperwork necessary to submit into their insurance carriers for reimbursement (a “superbill”). Please be aware that your insurance provider may not reimburse you for any, or may only reimburse you for a part of, the charges for my services. Insurance companies generally do not reimburse for administrative services or missed appointments. We accept HSA and all major credit cards for psychiatry services. Insurance can be used for prescription medications and lab tests. We believe in an integrative approach that combines traditional psychiatry with holistic therapies to help our clients heal on all levels - mind, body, and spirit.
Do you see patients in person?
For the majority of our patients, no! We find this works best for most people and actually decreases stress by eliminating the commute. The exception is a patient who is prescribed controlled substances, like a stimulant or benzodiazepine. For these patients, an initial face to face evaluation is required by law and once per year there after.
What is your cancelation policy?
Mind and Body Medicine has a strict 48-hour cancellation policy. This time-frame allows Dr. McDonald to open up her schedule to other patients who need to be seen. Cancellations made with less than 48 business hours notice, or missed appointments, are charged the full appointment fee. For example: an appointment scheduled for 12pm on Monday must be cancelled by 12pm on Thursday to avoid incurring a fee. We believe your health is important and we are committed to showing up for you!
What to do in the case of an emergency or mental health crisis?
Mind and Body Medicine will attempt to be available for urgent issues by phone; however, in the case of an emergency patients need to call 911 immediately. For any mental health crisis, call or text the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988 or text the Crisis Text Line at 741741.
